Magic and Adventure Abound in Celtic-Influenced Young Adult Fantasy Novel

Port Orford, OR (PRWEB) June 4, 2007

Readers looking for an authentic fantasy read should be delighted by the genuine blend of folklore and imagination in Jayel Gibson’s “Dragon Queen: An Ancient Mirrors Tale” (ISBN 978-1933538464, Synergy Books, 2007). Gibson grew up listening to Celtic folklore and faerie tales from her Irish grandmother, a woman for whom the faerie faith was very real. This fostered Gibson’s love of magic, legend and folklore, and adds considerable depth to her fantasy novels.

“Dragon Queen” is set in the mythical world of Ædracmoræ, a place resembling the legendary times of Arthurian Britain. As the first book in the “Ancient Mirrors” series, “Dragon Queen” is rich in details of scenery and background information to firmly establish Ædracmoræ in the reader’s imagination. The heroine of “Dragon Queen” is Yávië, who is awakened from the peaceful slumber of death into a shattered world, only to find that her closest family and friends have ruthlessly betrayed her.

Together with the Guardians, Yávië must begin a treacherous search for the truth of her birthright. Yávië discovers that she was born of the Dragon Queen, and is given the knowledge of the powerful artifacts that will reunite the shattered kingdoms into a single world. With this unity, however, the doorway will be opened for unthinkable evil to enter the kingdoms. “Dragon Queen” shares the exciting story of Yávië’s journey, filled with passion, adventure and trying challenges that test the young Queen’s courage and loyalty.

Gibson maintains the plausibility of her fantasy novels, not only through authentic Celtic faerie tales, but also by adapting real historical events in her writing. Fans of modern role-playing games, such as Dungeons & Dragons and World of Warcraft will also detect the more modern fantastical influences in “Dragon Queen.”

“My goal is to leave readers of any age with a smile, a sense of connection and satisfaction,” says Gibson. “I would like them to walk away with a desire to return to the ‘Ancient Mirrors’ universe, just as they would an enjoyable vacation spot.”

Readers who do long to return to the “Ancient Mirrors” universe can pick up a copy of “The Wrekening,” the series’ second novel, available now in local or online bookstores. “Damselflies,” the third installment in the series will be available November 1, 2007.

About the Author

Jayel Gibson resides in Port Orford, Oregon. After teaching elementary school, she retired from education to devote herself to a full time writing career. Gibson is also the creator of the popular writers’ workshop “From Brainstorm to Book and Beyond.”

“Dragon Queen: An Ancient Mirrors Tale” (ISBN 978-1933538464, Synergy Books, 2007) can be purchased through local and online bookstores. For more information, visit www.ancientmirrors.com. Publicity contact: www.readerviews.com. Review copies available upon request.

Science Fiction Meets Fantasy in Dragons Vs Robots, a New Transmedia Property Announced Today by Massiverse Inc.

Dragons Vs Robots is an expansive sci-fi / fantasy narrative that will be told across a number of formats, starting today with an online battle game and the first installment of the Dragons Vs Robots: Blade Guardian manga series.

New York, NY (PRWEB) September 14, 2009

An epic battle between science and nature has begun! Massiverse, Inc., a new media development company that creates original and interactive transmedia properties, is announcing their exciting first property: Dragons Vs Robots. Science fiction meets fantasy in this unique world designed for kids ages 9 to 14, where futuristic robots and mythical dragons battle for control over the planet Earth. Today Massiverse gives a first look at the vast Dragons Vs Robots universe at http://www.dragonsvsrobots.com, where a free battle game and manga series have been unveiled.

Dragons Vs Robots was conceived by entertainment writer and producer M. Raven Metzner, whose credits include the prime time television series Six Degrees for Touchstone/ABC, and seasoned media and technology executive Jesse Soleil. Spanning over 200 years and three generations of future history, the Dragons Vs Robots narrative involves a devastating energy crisis that leads to the rise of powerful robots and the reawakening of ancient dragons. The source of their conflict is Protium, a rare energy resource that serves as a life force for both dragons and robots. Humans, who also need this precious substance to resolve the energy crisis, must choose their allegiance — and so the battle lines are drawn.

Massiverse defines transmedia as integrated narrative storytelling that uses traditional and emerging mediums to develop a long-term personal relationship between customers and a brand. Dragons Vs Robots is the first of several original transmedia properties planned by the company. In addition to the battle game and manga series launching today, the Dragons Vs Robots saga will also be told through a trading card game, novels, animated webisodes, and a full-length feature film, providing multiple entry points for engagement and revenue. Plans are also in the works for a toy line.

“The future of media lies in building compelling, recognizable entertainment that works across platforms seamlessly,” says Massiverse CEO and Dragons Vs Robots co-creator Jesse Soleil. “By telling the Dragons Vs Robots story in so many different ways, we are setting up an engaging and immersive universe for our customers, as well as a lucrative business proposition for our investors.”

Starting today, all are invited to visit http://www.dragonsvsrobots.com and choose a side in the epic fight. Use the Dragons Vs Robots character creator to become a majestic dragon or a futuristic robot. Then send your personalized character into battle! The simple yet addictive Dragons Vs Robots online battle game is a free, safe way for children to become part of this dynamic universe, with each win driving up the player’s ranking and tipping the balance in the power struggle. The outcome online will ultimately shape the overall Dragons Vs Robots story.

The Dragons Vs Robots: Blade Guardian manga series, also available for free on the website, puts another spin on the narrative. Authored by Metzner and illustrated by artist Jo Tokutora, Blade Guardian follows the journey of 14-year-old adventurer Sid Oda as he treks across the territories formerly known as China and Japan to find his missing family. As the series unfolds, Massiverse plans to offer customized print-on-demand services for players of the online game. The company is also pursuing release of the Blade Guardian series through traditional publishing channels.

“We aren’t just releasing a game, manga series, book series, trading card game, or movie,” says Dragons Vs Robots editorial director and co-creator M. Raven Metzner. “It’s a complete universe with interlocking narratives. Dragons Vs Robots provides educational entertainment, with our young protagonists’ heroic adventures set against a backdrop of real-world science and mythology, but more importantly, this is a world, a history, and an experience that kids will want to get lost in.”

The team developing Dragons Vs Robots has years of experience creating quality children’s entertainment products for companies that include Scholastic, The Cartoon Network, Nickelodeon, and Disney, and is dedicated to maintaining a similarly high level of quality with the Dragons Vs Robots franchise. Although the world may seem very different from our reality, the characters and situations are recognizable and relatable for kids and families, and all Dragons Vs Robots content is age appropriate and kid-friendly. The free battle game and COPPA-compliant website have been carefully designed to maintain visitors’ online safety and reinforce responsible browsing behavior. The transmedia structure encourages kids to combine the online and offline components, to enable play and reading both online and offline.

Other Dragons Vs Robots components currently under development or in the planning stages include a trilogy of tween novels, a live action feature film (in collaboration with Jinks/Cohen Productions), toy and trading card lines, and a series of animated webisodes. Enhancements to the online battle game will also roll out over time, with the possibility of expansion onto next-gen consoles. These projects represent a rich transmedia experience with multiple revenue streams, and Massiverse is actively seeking partners and investors to collaborate on Dragons Vs Robots projects and help bring the universe to life. Article Source: http://www.articlesbase.com/ – Game Review – Dragon Age: Origins, Not Just an RPG Fantasy

Dragon Age: Origins (DAO) can be called as one type of game that not only offers an fantasy RPG-class entertainment. Not just a story of mixed weighted by BioWare in the beautiful fantasy world of Ferelden, but this game offers a beautiful memory that dangle over the deepening of interpersonal character. This is crucial to the future direction of the story and make DAO becomes more than mostly Role Playing Games (RPG) Fantasy.

As offered in other RPGs, the player began his career by building a character that would later affect the game play. When build the characters there are three race options: Human, Elf and the Dwarf, then select the job of each class thereafter.

According to selected race, then the game will go into the plot, according to the background of the selected character. Later, all the stories become one by following a man named Duncan Gray to become a Warden, a group dedicated their life to fighting the Blight, which is a group of evil demons who destroy Ferelden world peace.

The core of this game is to fight with Blight, by recruiting members in each of the plots into one group of Gray Warden who solve the problem from one region to another. In each scenario the story, players can find little quests with a large number. This game was bland if we just follow the major quest.

It should be noted that all the dialogue will affect the future course of the story. It also affects the other team members. Sometimes in a mission, there is a quest that emerged from the talks. This quest will automatically open a small plot, which resulted in a large scenario. If you choose to be polite, then the Non-Player Character (NPC) will also be polite; otherwise if it were rude in a conversation can eliminate the opportunity to open a new quest.

Game play, Graphics and Sound

For players who have been accustomed to playing games like Diablo, Baldur Gate, Mass Effect, Dugeon Siege or Never Winter Nights would not have difficulty in carrying out the character. Game system offered here truly flexible and easy to manage. Players just need to manage what needs to be done by another character (AI) and directly focus on other work in order not neglected. With the WASD keyboard controls, players can move the character in 3rd person. If tired of view can be replaced with by scroll the mouse over the smaller mode. This game started with a click & hit.

Talk about graphics, this game is quite standard. With sparkling reflections on a sword or armor, and the blood that was the standard, this game’s graphics can not be said luxury. One of the strengths of this game is charging an incredible voice a lot in every NPC. Each new person will speak with a different tone. Very varied.

Dialogue Should Really Look For

The core of this game is the conversation. For who not used to playing this RPG game, must be thinking ‘This game is only chit-chat, yeah?’. This is true. And it is precisely this power of Dragon Age: Origins, compared to other similar genres.

As we pursue only items and battle, this game will feel very flat. But when the dialogue is followed closely, an interesting story will be presented. Surely this is not easy, because the dialogue talks which is built not using text. Text only time we will determine a decision. As a result when playing this game, players have to really concentrate, so as not to lose the plot.

As we pursue only items and battle, this game will feel very flat. But when the dialogue is followed closely, an interesting story will be presented. Surely this is not easy, because the dialogue talks which is built not using text, text only available when we will determine a decision. As a result when playing this game, players have to really concentrate, so as not to lose the plot.

Spice Sex In The Story

Sex became one of the ingredients that interest in a game. So did the DAO. When choosing the character as a man, the character can be directed to copulate with another female character, and also vice versa. Apart from all that seems DAO really carrying gender equality, because the funny thing is, there is also the option ‘play’ with the same sex.

But, keep in mind, in order to ‘play’ with friends with a group of strong interpersonal relationships have to be really guarded. Reached a certain level later when the ‘partner’ really open minded, then the scene ‘making love’ can be done. Fun is not it? Please note that this game is intended for adults. Do not give this game to children under the age of 18 years!

Conclusion:

Basically Dragon Age: Origins was designed as a game like Fantasy RPG aimed at heavy gamers and also heavy gamers who are accustomed to play the genre.

The moral of this game is not just the nice guy will prevail against evil, like other similar games. Here, players will be given moral choices through dialogue, which built both the NPC and the other characters. This will open the alternative hidden dungeon in the game that will ultimately affect the way the story.

Advantages:
– Development of plot that extraordinary
– Dialogue is varied
– Scene ‘hot’ that makes a fun adventure

Disadvantages:
– The absence of dialogue text
– Skill tree less attractive
